About MIS

MakeItSafe (MIS) is a Barbados-based, non-profit, non-governmental road-safety organisation focused on education, public awareness, community involvement and advocacy. We believe safer roads depend on the everyday choices of everyone who uses them.

Our purpose

Our mission is to help save lives and prevent serious injuries on Barbados roads. We encourage drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians, passengers, families and organisations to understand risks, make safer decisions and look out for one another.

What we do

  • Road-safety education: provide practical information, tips and learning resources for different road users.
  • Awareness and community action: encourage safer attitudes and participation in road-safety initiatives.
  • Training pathways: help people find relevant learning opportunities and develop safer road-use habits.
  • Partnership and advocacy: invite communities and organisations to contribute to safer journeys.

Our approach: safer roads are a shared responsibility

People make mistakes. Road safety therefore involves more than asking individuals to be careful: safer speeds, safer road users, safer vehicles, safer roads and appropriate responses after crashes all matter. MakeItSafe supports practical education and cooperation that help reduce risk.

Who we work with

We welcome enquiries from schools, parents, employers, fleet operators, road users, community groups and potential volunteers. The availability and scope of individual activities depend on current programmes and arrangements.
