MakeItSafe 4KidZ

The MakeItSafe’s Kids Walk is on 29th September 2024.

Every year, we need primary schoolchildren to take part in MakeItSafe’s Kids Walk to learn important road safety messages and shout out for their right to make safe and healthy journeys.

We need children (aged 4-11) from schools and nurseries to take part around the island, calling for their right to make safe and healthy journeys without fear or risk from traffic. At the same time, MakeItSafe will be running a media campaign calling for 40km/h speed limits round ALL schools as our research revealed that 35% of parents do not walk their children to school because traffic is too fast.

What is MakeItSafe’s Kids Walk?

MakeItSafe’s Kids Walk involves schoolchildren walking at the same time to promote the health and planet-saving benefits of walking and shout out for their right to make safe and healthy journeys.

Why is MakeItSafe’s Kids Walk important?

At MakeItSafe, we believe that every child has the right to walk in their community without fear of traffic and pollution. Risk from traffic is a big factor in whether families are able to walk safely in the places where they live. It affects their ability to be healthy and socially active.

Children of all ages are at risk of being hurt or killed when walking on or near roads.

MakeItSafe’s Kids Walk is a great way to inspire and engage children about the dangers they face, promote the benefits of walking, and raise awareness among parents and the wider community about the need to protect children on roads.

It’s also a great opportunity to fundraise for MakeItSafe and support families who have lost loved ones in road crashes.
